Initial Analysis of Body Mass Index Measurements of Reception and Year 6 pupils

For Information

You may have seen an article in the Barnet Press about obesity in Barnet which included a reference to the recent height and weight survey of a sample of Barnet school children. We were asked for comment at very short notice and, because it was before the start of the new term, we were unable to contact you before the article went out.

The initial analysis of the data collected has been used to calculate the proportion of children who are overweight and the proportion of children who are obese in reception classes and Year 6 classes.
For futher information please see the enclosures section of this week's School Circular.

School Funding Updates

For Information

PROVIDING GOOD QUALITY FINANCIAL INFORMATION INCLUDING COMPARATIVE DATA FOR SCHOOLS

School Funding Updates

We are committed to notifying schools of their funding in good time for schools to make in year budget adjustments, and we are therefore issuing an interim budget share report at autumn half-term.  At the end of October, all schools will receive a summary sheet covering any changes to 2006/7 since the original budgets were issued in March.  Specifically this will include:

*        NQTs for the Autumn and Spring Term (as reported to Paula Hales)

*        Adjusted funding for statements

*        Successful bids to the October SEN Contingency Panel

*        Additional Standards Funds allocations

*        Corrections

In line with government regulations there will be no adjustment for pupil numbers either now or at the end of year.

Schools Funding and Finance Website

Our Schools Funding and Finance web pages are now live on the Barnet Grid for Learning.  These pages are regularly updated with information for Heads, Bursars and anyone dealing with school finance.  Schools can see their latest Standards Funds at any time by clicking on '2006-08 Financial Year' and then 'Standards Funds'.  You will need to select your school's DfES number before the data appears.  The original budget shares for 2006/7 and indicative budgets for 2007/8  are also available as well as 2005/6 funding information.

You will find us on the BGfL 'Education Services' menu.  As a quicker alternative (which avoids your having to login to BGfL) you can use the following URL which you may like to add to your 'Favourites':
