Primary School Capital Investment Programme (PSCIP)

For Information

I wrote to you recently about proposals for Barnet Hill and Whitings Hill Primary Schools. Following early feedback from our consultation on these proposals, I have decided to revise the proposal for Barnet Hill Primary School. The amended proposal is for Barnet Hill School and Nursery Class to close at the end of the summer term in 2009. All pupils will move to the expanded Whitings Hill School or to other local schools in September 2009.

The consultation period has been extended to Wednesday 10th January 2007. An amended copy of the consultation is available from our web site: www.barnet.gov.uk

Performance Management Briefings for Headteachers and Senior Staff

For action - Response required by 15th December

New arrangements have now been agreed for the performance management of teachers and headteachers from 1 September 2007. To assist schools in clarifying their responsibilities and to support them in strengthening the link between performance management and school improvement, there will be a series of briefings for headteachers and senior staff in the spring term. Details of these briefings and how to book places on one of the events are contained within a letter that can be found in the enclosures section. The letter also makes it clear that there will be additional, separate briefings specifically for governors on their part in the new arrangements.

Requests to attend one of the briefings should be returned by 15th December.

Enquiries on this topic can be addressed to Mike Horton on 020 8359 6385 or at mike.horton@barnet.gov.uk
