Your original budget allocations for 2007/08 are now ready to download.  Please go to the website www.funding.barnet.lgfl.net and follow the links. You will need to enter your school's 4 digit DfES number to see your own school's funding sheets, but you do not have to log in to LGfL.

These allocations replace the Provisional allocations released on 21st February and include all corrections and amendments identified in the last two weeks.

The letter enclosed with this circular has also been sent in the School Bag to Headteachers.

Director's Report to Governors

The second of the twice-termly Director of Children's Service Report to Governors (formerly the CEOs Report), Spring 2007, is now available for consideration at your next termly meeting of the governing body.

In line with the council's commitment to open local government, schools should make available certain information to the public. Therefore, a copy of the report should be in a place accessible to parents, school staff, pupils and visitors.

The report can be found electronically at: Governor Services Reports

Local Studies Centre: Facilities for Teachers

For Information

Teachers of History, Geography and Citizenship will find valuable resources for KS2-KS3 studies at the Centre in the form of maps, photos, statistics, published histories, reminiscences and other archive materials to support the Curriculum and bring an interesting local dimension to the lesson. For example, comparisons can be made between the likely impact of the proposed Cricklewood Regeneration scheme on housing, communications and employment with the effects of the coming of the railway to Cricklewood in the 19th century. The theme of change can also be explored, by looking at how the lifestyle of local people was affected as a consequence of World War II, e.g. the role of women in contributing to the war effort, or by simply looking at change in and around your school.

View our web page to browse Pocket Histories, an area profile with many photos/links and a brief resource list to sample what the Local Studies service is developing online.

Staff at the Local Studies Centre would be very pleased to talk you about your needs, discuss a project, or to arrange a visit to the school to give an illustrated talk. Alternatively, we would be pleased to host visits by small groups of children to the Centre.

Transport for London's Tour De France Competitions

For Action - Response required by 27 April

As London has been chosen as the host city for the first official stage of this year's Tour De France Transport for London have been actively trying to offer London pupils the opportunity to get involved in the competition and in cycling in general.

TfL would like to encourage your pupils to enter their competitions to design:

  • a poster promoting cycling to school
  • a cycle jersey promoting London and cycling to school

To enter your pupils for these competitions they need to complete the attached worksheets. They are both double sided and we ask pupils to describe their design to us on page one and then draw (in colour) their design on the reverse side.

Each school is invited to select the best three jersey designs and the best three poster designs and send them to Transport for London.

The closing date for entries is Friday 27 April.

For further details please see the letters and worksheets in the enclosures section.
