Smoking at Work

For Information

Regulations passed under the Health Act 2006 come into effect on 1 July 2007, making it illegal to smoke in almost all enclosed work places. Health & Safety Bulletin 194 provides detailed information about this and is included in the enclosures section of this week's School Circular.

Barnet Youth Festival

For Information

Please find included in the enclosures section of this week's School Circular a flyer regarding the Barnet Youth Festival. An A5 flyer pack is also in this week's secondary schools' School Bag.

The festival, aimed at the 13 to 19 age group, is taking place at Copthall Stadium on 30 June 2007 from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Entry is free.

Congratulations to the following schools and educational settings:

Moss Hall Infant School has been awarded the Artsmark Gold Award and Mapledown School has been awarded the Artsmark Silver Award. This is in recognition of their provision in art, dance, music and drama.

Pavilion Study Centre has been awarded National Healthy Schools status.

Keeping Every Child on Track
Education Secretary Alan Johnson has announced that 484 schools across England have been chosen to run a major two-year pilot from September 2007. The pilot will trial new ways to assess, report and stimulate progress in schools, so that no child falls behind or gets stuck at any stage:-
