Civic Awards 2007

For Action - Response required by 30 November

Do you know someone who deserves acknowledgement for the work they do to make a difference to the lives of others in our community? They could be a fellow teacher, someone who has helped your school over the years, or just a dedicated person who you feel should be recognised for all their hard work.

We are now calling for nominees for the Barnet Civic Awards 2007. We want to say thank you to those people who work tirelessly for the benefit of others, behind the scenes, with little or no recognition at all.

Often these people are unaware that the things they do are so greatly appreciated by others. The Barnet Civic Awards is our chance to commend these unsung heroes and show them how much their efforts are appreciated.

Please find a nomination form for you to complete and distribute to your colleagues within the enclosures section of this week's School Circular. All nominations must be received by 30 November 2006. If you would like further information about these awards please contact Jane Bamber on 020 8359 2493 or jane.bamber@barnet.gov.uk

Interim Budget Share Allocations for 2006/7

For Action - Please check as soon as possible and respond if necessary

Each school will receive a summary of their latest Budget Share and Standards Funds allocations in the school bag this week. This is not the final funding position for schools but we hope that any amendments between now and the end of year will be small. This should enable schools to plan any adjustments to the 2006/7 budget now and forecast the end of year position more accurately. The summary shows the original budget shares issued in March 2006, the total of any changes, and the new allocation.

Full details on how to check the detail of the adjustments using the Barnet Schools Funding and Finance (BSFF) website www.funding.barnet.lgfl.net are attached to the funding sheets.

Please study these interim allocations carefully and let the School Funding team know if you find any errors or have any queries as soon as possible so they can be corrected at the end of the year. Questions about Statement Top-ups should be directed to Bahir Laattoe on 8359 7735and all other queries to Carol Beckman on 0208 359 7636.

School Funding Manager
