Celebrating Success

For information

Congratulations to St Andrew's CE School for reducing their rubbish by half in just one week!
St Andrew's worked on a project with Verity Jones from the Waste and Sustainability Team at Barnet Council to reduce their rubbish.  The project is called the 'Watch Your Waste Project.'  The school learnt to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle more and have even started to recycle all their food waste.   Pupils learnt about reducing their lunchtime waste, a recycling lorry visited the school and each class took part in a workshop.  The week was finished off with a Celebratory Assembly at the school and The Mayor of Barnet and Councillor Coleman came to see the work that the school had done.  In one week the school was so successful at reducing their rubbish that one of their three rubbish bins was completely empty! By continuing to reduce the school's waste this will not only have a positive environmental effect, but will help save the school money by reducing the number of rubbish bins that they will need.
